Joesoef Isak Died

Joesoef Isak (1928-2009) was the editor of Hasta Mitra, an influential publishing house in Jakarta. His father was a post-office employee from Minangkabau, western Sumatra, moving to Jakarta during the Dutch period. Joesoef was born in Jakarta in 1928. He once edited the Merdeka daily. He was also known as a translator, a left-wing intellectual and imprisoned from 1967-1977 without trial.After
